“Beach Party” – Alumni Event 2009

The Alumni Association of KPMG Ford, Rhodes, Thornton & Co organized another get-together in the style of a Beach Party in the month of November 2009. The annual alumni get-together encourages the firm’s alumni to strengthen their network and renew old ties. This year’s event was organized at such a scale and unique style to present an unforgettable atmosphere and entertainment for alumni members with the backdrop of the splendorous Mount Lavinia Hotel beach.

Over two hundred alumni members enjoyed a relaxing evening with peers as they talked danced and recapped on the great memories they shared with one another. The alumni event featured a barbecue, DJ Music, fireworks displays, dancing and many gifts which combined to make the event a truly memorable one.

Commenting on the event, Alumni network coordinating partner Suren Rajakarier said “We are very happy to have an active alumni network and the enthusiasm, support and participation we have received towards this event is encouraging and remarkable. In addition to the annual get-together event we are also hoping to have a mid year event in the upcoming year and we hope this will facilitate more frequent interactions with the members.”

As part of its objectives the Association is keen to have other networking events where they can exchange ideas and hear from a variety of industry specialists from the wider KPMG community. The Alumni web and the database have enabled the sharing of several thought leadership publications of KPMG with the Alumni.

“Walk Down Memory Lane” – Alumni Night 2008

The alumni event for 2008, held on 3rd November attracted over 350 alumni members and was one of the key events in the firm's annual calendar. It provided a great opportunity for alumni members to reunite and interact with former work colleagues and more importantly meet with old friends and walk down memory lane. The event which took place at the Cinnamon Grand included entertainment, splendorous lighting and a video clip which revisited the alumni experiences dating back over one and half decades.   

The key note address was made by Senior Partner - Mr. Nirmal Fernando together with a special address by Central Bank Governor and President of the Alumni Association Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal.

Alumni members present at the occasion had an enjoyable evening with much conversation, singing, dancing and reminiscing of yesteryears.
